Film Acoustic:

We’ve been fortunate to be hired by the Modern School of Film to cover their Film Acoustic series.

The idea is that they find a really articulate musician who then picks an interesting film— we all watch the film together and then talk about it, the artist’s creative process, etc. And true to the name, the artist usually sneaks in an acoustic set.

This one was held at the NC Museum of Art in Raleigh, and featured Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie.
Our film was the indy great Slacker and the conversation was wonderful.

My favorite takeaway, was this quote from Ben : “If you have one thing to say, you have many things to say” (basically: relax, creativity repeats).

I always enjoy the peeks backstage, and watching people, like our interviewer & series creator Robert Milazzo, working till the last second on his interview research (see him in the glow of his iPhone above).

There are bound to be more of these events in the Triangle, so, keep an eye on NCMA & the Carolina Theatre for the next date.
