My associate Ron Cronk and I snuck into the building (OK, Security let us in
and we did a time-lapse series of the sun setting through the windows of the new building at the WIlmot Cancer Center.
We had a blast as always and grabbed some outside shots for Leslie White’s publications as well.

I think the Duct Tape bracelet makes the photo (thanks for the shots, Ron!)

Me ruining Ron’s shot.
The craziest thing was when an orderly and a patient (totally hooked up to machines and IVs) wheeled by to see the building progress and we chatted.

The building is coming along beautifully. It’s been fun to watch it change with each visit. It’s HUGE! With a full floor of research up top.

‘Finished’ signs are showing up all over…
more to come

The glass is in and the fascad is really taking shape. This is a Ken ‘creative’ shot of the new glass front reflecting the old Strong buildings surrounding it.

Even inside they are coming along. This Saturday, the first huge accelerator machine will be installed… I was amazed that they are doing that so early, but I was told they need lots of time to get it on line.

One of the key features of the new Cancer Center @ Strong is going in… the entrance will be this large sweep of open windows.

…and that’s the way it’s done… these panes weigh 500 pounds.
The new 4-story James P. Wilmot Cancer Center will open Spring 2008.

I’ve posted some of my favorite highlight images from the Ball HERE
It’s a cool Flash sliding viewer of large images… enjoy!

PS: What a great night. They had over 1300 people there to support Cancer research. The honorees were the URMC docs that lead the team to discover the Cervical Cancer vaccine. That’s them with their awards above. How cool is that… the first solid end to a type of cancer coming right from our URMC folks in Rochester!
Thanks to everyone at the URMC & Wilmot Center for having me be part of this wonderful event!

I love doing these event books because they really show off the whole range of photos from an event and let me add the creative detail photos and ‘quiet/behind the scenes moments’ that I love to shoot.
If you hover over the example above, there are some captions here and there. Also, clicking on it will take you to a web page where you can see all of the photos. The first shots are from the Highland Hospital Gala and later are from RIT. I create the books in Apple’s Aperture software.
I’m doing 7 books for RIT Alumni from the even I shoot tonight, so you know what I’ll be doing Monday.
And the price I charge right now is just $100 to create the book (which honestly takes 2-3 hours or more), and then $100 per printed, hardcover 8.5×11″ book. I’m sure in time those prices will have to go up, but I’m thrilled clients are getting into the idea more and more.
